LEGOLAND California Resort Unveils New ‘Ninjago’ Ride – NBC 7 San Diego

Carlsbad’s LEGOLAND California Resort on Thursday unveiled its new ride: an interactive attraction that gives visitors the chance to train like a ninja.

Double “Ninjago the turn”, the attraction is hosted in the new Ninjago World from LEGOLAND. Complete with shockwaves and lightning bolts, the ride allows patrons to use “hands on technology” as they imagine their ninja life. Riders use hand gestures to guide them through the interactive experience, throwing fireballs and ice as they go.

Designed for kids to be active and on the move, Ninjago also tests balance and agility. Racers collect points along the way, and the high-tech components include a 3D wall and 4D features like heat, wind, and smoke.

The trip can accommodate four people per car. There is no minimum height requirement for riding, although riders under 48 inches must be accompanied by a rider 48 inches or taller.

Those looking to test their speed, stamina and reflexes may take on challenges during the ride, including “Cole’s Rock Climb” or “Jay’s Lightning Drill”.

“Ninjago The Ride is a revolutionary breakthrough where, for the first time in North America, you control the outcome of your adventure, just by using your hands,” said LEGOLAND spokesperson Julie Estrada. “It’s about getting kids moving and doing things and really controlling their own imaginations and experiences here at LEGOLAND California.”

LEGOLAND held a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday at Ninjago World to mark the launch of the attraction. Parents and children gathered at the park for the ninja themed party. The event was also attended by actor and comedian Joel McHale, who was also in attendance with his family.

Estrada said that in addition to the unveiled new ride, Ninjago World offers four other attractions that test speed and creativity.

The neighborhood is also home to Ninja Kitchen, a restaurant that serves Asian-inspired cuisine like Bánh Mì and steamed Bao Buns, as well as a ninja-themed gift shop called Wu’s Warehouse.

LEGOLAND launched the Ninjago World project in July 2015. Plans for Ninjago The Ride were announced in September 2015. Admission to Ninjago World is included with entry fee into LEGOLAND.
