Hotel del Coronado in California completes final piece of master plan

The Hotel del Coronado, across California’s San Diego Bay, is one of America’s iconic and best-known hospitality spots. The 28-acre, 757-room resort, which opened in 1888, has hosted countless famous and powerful guests and has appeared in several films. He prides himself on a remarkably loyal clientele who return to the hotel regularly.

To present its historic guests with a new take on The Del experience and to bring the Victorian-style venue into the 21st century, the property is in the midst of a $ 400 million master plan whose final step, on his latest land for development, is Shore House at the Del, with 75 fully furnished one, two and three bedroom residences, an ocean view pool with private cabanas, an indoor-outdoor lounge, a 17-bedroom ballroom. ,000 square feet and 25,000 square feet of meeting space.

The project team for Shore House, which started in February 2020, is led by LEO A DALY, which provides architectural and interior design services for the client, BRE Hotels & Resorts. KPFF is the project’s structural engineer, FEA Consulting Engineers its MEP engineer and Swinerton its GC. Shore House is expected to be completed next year. Its construction cost was not disclosed.

“Our design for Shore House honors The Del’s rich heritage while creating the most innovative product the resort has to offer,” said Ryan D. Shore House at the Del residences range in size from 833 square feet to 1,925 square feet and range in price from $ 1.3 million to $ 5.2 million. Public sales were launched on July 22, 2021 after a period of presales that saw 85% of homes placed under contract, according to the Sacramento Bee newspaper. Within five weeks of that launch, the property was completely sold, according to IMI Worldwide Partners, the venue’s exclusive business partner.

Shore House replaces a surface parking lot on the southernmost point of the property. A new, brick-paved driveway borders landscaping reminiscent of the Victorian era. This route intentionally reveals the entire property through spectacularly framed views.

Shore House’s design features other Victorian elements, including gables, a red shingled roof, lap siding, and a front façade with a wide veranda featuring two sets of entrance stairs. The residences are equipped with kitchens and adjoin indoor-outdoor gathering spaces with fireplaces. “Rich wooden beams, natural textures and soft hues of cream and blue provide the perfect blend of classic and modern, paving the way for families to come together, relax and create lasting memories,” said Lara Rimes, RID, IIDA, LEED AP, LEO Senior Interior Designer at DALY.
