Seven-year-old James Carlin of Encinitas grew up just 10 miles from Carlsbad Family Theme Park and created a strong social media campaign explaining why he was the best candidate for the job. Months later, the LEGOLAND fan received a knock on his door from a LEGOLAND Knight and “Buddy” character informing him of his new location.

Carlin’s first “day on the job” at LEGOLAND California Resort began when General Manager Peter Ronchetti presented him with the key (in LEGO, of course!) to Miniland USA before the newly elected mayor officially opened the doors of the resort. park for the day. As part of his new duties, Carlin greeted park guests, answered questions and took photos with LEGOLAND fans. Carlin then headed to the model shop for his first meeting with a master model builder where he built a LEGO Minilander of himself and placed it in the Grand Central Terminal at Miniland in New York City.
