Elon Musk’s last $ 32 million California home finally finds a buyer

Nestled in the lush greenery of Hillsborough, California is a century-old estate built in the early 1900s by French nobleman Count Christian de Guigné. The sprawling estate and its understated and comfortable mansion are currently owned by Elon Musk, who looks set to hand it over to the next owner soon.

Elon Musk may have found a buyer for his 16,000 square feet. house in Hillsborough, according to New York Post. The actual listing for the 47.4-acre estate is still in progress, but it is labeled pending. Musk’s Former Home is listed at $ 31.99 million or $ 151,369 per month by Mary and Brent Gullixson with Compass.

Musk bought the house back in 2017 for $ 23.36 million, which is relatively low compared to the domain’s historical price tag. The Hillsborough estate was once listed for $ 100 million, according to Global Manor.

Musk decided to offload his entire real estate portfolio last year, selling assets estimated at $ 100 million. Earlier this year, Musk noted that he had sold all of his homes with the exception of the Hillsborough Estate, which was then rented out for events. Along with the announcement, Musk noted that he was working on numerous projects related to each of the companies he runs, namely: Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink and The Boring Company. Four days after his tweet on Hillsborough, Musk decided to sell his remaining home.

Also nicknamed Guignécourt – presumably after its first owner – the mansion has 7 bedrooms, 9.5 bathrooms and a 3-car garage with more room for vehicles in the carport. The massive house also includes a large living room, a library with a fireplace, a kitchen with space for a personal chef, as well as a dining and music room that could be combined into one large entertainment area.

As the former residence of the CEOs of Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink and Boring Company, it is perhaps not surprising that Guignécourt has also received technology upgrades throughout Musk’s ownership.

“The infrastructure upgrades include fiber optic cable under the driveway, a high-end security system, an indoor sound system, and the restoration of several period features,” the Gullixsons noted in one of his ads.

The Grand Ballroom, Dining Room and Cocktail Room have also been recently renovated with a hydraulic separation wall. Further renovations were made to the living room with humidifier, kitchen and second chef’s kitchen.

Elon Musk currently lives in a single house in Boca Chica, Texas, closer to Tesla’s next factory, Giga Texas. The other company he runs is also setting up in Lone Star State, such as Neuralink and The Boring Company. SpaceX also has a massive presence in Texas in the form of Starbase, where the missions to Mars will eventually be launched.
